Seven years of short films were cobblestones for Western NC filmmaker Missy Bell, leading to this, her first full-length feature. Erased is billed as “both a one-crazy-night film and a grown-up coming of age story.” When confronted by the now 18-year-old son he dismissed before birth, a high powered businessman must decide between their potential relationship and a life changing financial opportunity.

Along with the film your $40 ticket to the premiere includes musical performances, a reception with the filmmakers and actors and ice cream. Available flavors weren’t clear at press time.

Falsettos is a musical challenging the definition of a ‘tight-knit family,’ when Marvin leaves his wife and son for his male lover. Set in the late 1970s, on the brink of the AIDS crisis, the play attempts to walk the tightrope between comedy and family drama while commenting on love, acceptance and human resilience.

Performances continue Thursday-Sunday through Sept. 6.

Over 48 hours, you can witness (in person or online) anika sharma “transform from a zoo animal into a human and back again.” The performance artist bills Human, Vermin as a theatrical endurance performance that blurs the line between beasts, by tangling human and animal rights together til they are one. sharma is interested in looking at how the “adapt or perish” mindset has been applied throughout evolutionary history and how that statement sits with our current moment.

Jakob Heinemann is a double-bassist and Keefe Jackson a reed player who found each other in a fertile Chicago jazz scene and bonded over an appreciation of each other’s compositions and love of improvisation. The young touring quartet will perform originals baked in the avant garde and inflected with wide windows for improvisation.

Evon Streetman is a seminal figure in Southern photography whose experimental approach incorporates painterly processes and handwork, such as hand-coloring, airbrushing, and the application of gold and silver leaf to her photos. Her images often blur the line between documentation and transformation, evoking a sense of place that is intimate and enigmatic. Streetman sees her work as exploring memory and place, remaining deeply rooted in the Southern landscape.

Her exhibition runs through Oct. 10.
